Terms of Service
Effective date: 3 October 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Basket, operated by Nordic Raven Solutions ("we," "us," "our"). By creating an account, you agree to these Terms.
1. The service
Basket is a household grocery and pantry management app. It lets you and the members of your household track staples, use your phone's camera to check what's actually in stock, and build shared shopping lists. Basket also has optional social features: you can generate and save recipes, choose to make a recipe visible to other Basket users (publicly, to your followers, or keep it private), follow other users, and comment on or review recipes others have made public.
2. Accounts and households
You need an account to use Basket. You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for what happens under your account. A "household" is a shared space you create or join via an invite code; anyone with that code can join it and see/edit its staples and shopping lists. Only invite people you actually want to share that data with.
Separately from households, your profile and any content you choose to make public or share with followers (see Section 3) may be visible to Basket users who are not in your household.
Accounts should be created by an adult. We expect and design for kids to use the app as part of normal household participation (taking photos, checking off lists), but the account itself should be set up by a parent or guardian. Given Basket's social features (Section 3), a parent or guardian setting up an account for a child's use should review the visibility settings in Settings → Privacy.
3. Public content and social features
Some parts of Basket are shared beyond your household. Each has its own visibility setting, changeable in Settings → Privacy: your profile (visible to everyone by default), your recipes (private by default -- you choose when to make one visible to your followers or to everyone), your favorites (private by default), and your pantry/stock level (household-only by default). "Everyone" means any Basket user, not just people you know.
You can follow other users, and other users can follow you. Recipes you make visible to "everyone" or to "followers" can be viewed, rated, and commented on by the users that visibility setting allows.
Recipes made visible beyond your own account go through a review step before other users can see them. Comments, reviews, and recipe photos are not reviewed before publishing; we rely on user reports for those, and on the review step above for recipes themselves. We may reject, remove, or restrict public content -- including recipes, photos, comments, and reviews -- at our discretion, including for violating Section 4 below.
If you see content or a user that violates these Terms, you can report it from within the app. You can also block another user at any time (their content becomes invisible to you, and yours to them); blocking doesn't require a reason and isn't itself reported to us.
4. Acceptable use
Don't use Basket to:
- Upload photos of anything other than your own household storage areas for the purpose the feature is intended for, or attach a recipe photo you don't have the right to share.
- Attempt to access another household's data without a legitimate invite code.
- Post recipes, comments, reviews, photos, or a display name that are illegal, harassing, abusive, or infringe someone else's rights.
- Post or share nudity, sexually explicit content, or real-world graphic violence (recipe photos of food you cooked are, obviously, fine).
- Impersonate another person or household.
- Use following, commenting, or reviewing to harass, spam, or abuse other users.
- Interfere with or abuse the service (e.g. attempting to overload our servers, reverse-engineering the API for purposes other than personal use).
- Use the service for anything illegal.
5. Your content
You retain ownership of the content you add (staple names, list items, household names, recipes, recipe photos, comments, and reviews). If you set something to a visibility tier beyond "only me" (Section 3), you're granting the users that tier allows the ability to view it -- and, for comments/reviews on your own public recipes, to interact with it in the ways the app supports. By using Check Stock, you agree that your photos are transiently sent to Google's Gemini API for analysis, as described in our Privacy Policy -- we don't store those photos ourselves. Recipe photos you attach to a recipe you create, by contrast, are stored, as described in the Privacy Policy.
6. AI-generated results aren't guaranteed accurate
Basket uses AI models (Google Gemini, and for one smaller staple-matching task, Groq) in three places: Check Stock, to determine what's present, missing, or uncertain in your photos; recipe generation, to produce recipes (including any allergen or dietary tags shown on them) from your pantry, preferences, or a dish you name; and, if you use the optional nutrition tracker, to estimate nutrition facts for a food that isn't already in our catalog. These are best-effort tools, not a guarantee. The model can misidentify items in a photo, miss things that are partially hidden, be wrong about quantities, generate a recipe with an inaccurate ingredient list, instructions, or allergen/dietary tag, or produce an inaccurate nutrition estimate. Always use your own judgment, especially for anything safety-relevant (e.g. expiration/spoilage, or an actual food allergy) -- Basket tells you what a photo appears to show, what a recipe appears to be, or what a food's nutrition facts are estimated to be, not verified ground truth. Basket's nutrition tracker is not medical or dietary advice and isn't a substitute for guidance from a doctor, registered dietitian, or other qualified professional -- don't rely on it for managing a medical condition, allergy, or any situation where an inaccurate nutrient figure could cause real harm.
7. Subscriptions
Basket is free to use during a one-time free trial (currently 21 days per household, which referral bonuses can extend). After the trial ends, continuing to use Basket requires a paid subscription: a Basic or an Unlimited plan, offered monthly or yearly. The current price of each plan, and what each one includes, is shown in the app and on the app store listing at the time you subscribe.
Billing is handled by the App Store or Google Play, not by us. When you subscribe, the store charges the payment method on your store account and manages the subscription. We never receive or store your card details. We use a subscription-management provider (RevenueCat) only to know whether your plan is active; see the Privacy Policy.
Automatic renewal. A subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period, at the then-current price for that plan, until you cancel it.
Cancelling. You can cancel at any time from your App Store or Google Play account settings. Because these subscriptions are managed by the store, cancellation happens there, not inside Basket. It takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep access until then. Once the paid period ends, Basket returns to its locked, post-trial state until you subscribe again.
Price changes. We may change subscription prices. A change only ever affects future renewals, and you will be notified in advance to the extent the store or applicable law requires, with the chance to cancel before it takes effect.
Refunds. Because the store processes the payment, refund requests are handled by the App Store or Google Play under their own policies. For consumers in the EU and other regions with a statutory withdrawal or cancellation right, that right also applies and is exercised through the store. Separately, and because Basket is a young app we are still actively improving: if you hit a serious bug, or have a genuine reason to be unhappy, please contact us first through Settings, Send feedback. We will do our best to make it right, which may include a free month of your subscription or helping you obtain a refund from the store.
8. Termination
You can delete your account at any time (Settings → Delete My Account); this also removes your public content as described in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, including for abuse of the service, of other households' data, or of the public/social features in Section 3.
9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
Basket is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. We're not liable for spoiled food, incorrect purchases, missed items, or any other consequence of relying on Check Stock's results, recipe generation's results, or your household's staples/shopping list data. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability for any claim relating to Basket is limited to the amount (if any) you've paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
10. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the service changes. Material changes will be communicated before they take effect.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Denmark, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
